monday 14ish
Big news today, Lisa has left us!
She is going home to her family and friends, as her time here is voer, for now...
This weights heavy not only because she was a great girl and that we will miss her, but also coz she is not the only one to leave us.
In the upcoming week(s) Steffen, nathan and mike will all leave me matt and courtney behind, on their way to find new adventures. We are not worried that we wont have fun, coz the three of us will. But we will miss em :P
Although Matt and I will drive to norway and see steffen i hope that nathan and mike will end up in scandinavia on their trip around the globe!
Regarding Lisa, I wish that she will be offered a job here and come back, dont like it at all that she left. if not she has to visit! :) Hopefully she can show me the eastern part of Canada next spring/summer, that would be sweet!
HAve some pics with me and Lisa at the beach yesterday (Lake Lillian), but they are on lisas comp, so i have to wait for her to get home and post em so i can steal em.
Plan for today is just to take it easy, visit courtney and offer dinner, then we might watch a movie tonight or go out, to forget the loss of Lisa and to say godbye to steffen as it is his last day off before he leaves.

A change in life
We have been transfered to another unit within Housekeeping, the Common Area. Which means that we got our own walkie-talkies!!! We still have to clean, but just the common areas of the buildings, which includes the public bathrooms but still, we got our own walkie-talkies! We got a fixed payment of 10.33 CAD per hour instead of the piece based payment we've had till now.
This feels really good as none of us really liked it as a Room Attendant. It was ok and we were able to earn lots of money if we wanted to work really hard. Some people here make around 20-30 CAD per hour, which is really good.
The day started good, the first room was fine. The second was a pain as we had a deadline and the guests that lived there before had smashed an egg in the fridge. Mathias worked his ass off to get rid of that. We didn't make the deadline but apparently it was fine as the new guests hadn't arrived. It started going good again untill Cole, our co-ordinator, called us and told us that we had to go back to the second room and do some touch ups. That pretty much ruined our working spirit. We finished the touch up and the last room and we were off. Back at the office we looked at our new schedule and there it was, our names under the Common Area staff. That made us a lot happier and we went to the G-spot (General Store) and made some shopping for the night.
As soon as we got home we met Nathan in the stairs and we went with him to the lake. It was a really nice lake, clear water and not so cold as we imagined. We met the Aussies there and some other guys as well.
While we were out in the water the Aussies were leaving and they drove their car into a tree and smashed the rear window. It was so fun! We laughed so hard.
Now we're just sitting here waiting for Courtney to come home, so she can start making us dinner as she promised!

Not much to report, me and mathias scored another 2 perfect rooms today = we are catching up with nathan :)
apparently they dont want to break us up, as we are doing a good job together, even though matt is faster than me...
We took the bus into town today to buy some grocery, just the regular stuff, foood!
We are all set with stuff for making tacos, lasagna, meatballs and of course bacon!
Btw the reason to why i havnt gotten the time to shave my face is pretty obvious: everytime i stand by the mirror the damn polarbear alarm goes off and tells everyone to shelter up inside our units, at that time there is just every man for himself!
So you see, i have to decide wether to live or shave, i choose live :)

Another day of work done, puh.
No, today was quite alright, me and Matt got to work together and we had a good morning...
Then we got free hamburgers at noon, free food is always something i appreciate!
We went to EE today as well, turned out they might have positions available as "lifties", that would mean staying outside alot in the harsh cold country of canada - but thats how we like it right?
They were going to come back to us tomorrow after their meeting, when they know exactly what they have got to offer us.
Im not saying housekeeping is that bad, just that i would prefer working outside and to work with people, im not really fit for working entierly alone.
Mathias likes the idea of working alone more than I do, as you make more money working by yourself. About the possible job offers for the winter Mathias doesn't really care if he's working outside or inside. As long as he gets as many hours of snowboarding per week as possible he will be happy, even if that means staying at Housekeeping.
At lunch there were a big staff party, we got free hamburgers and soda. It all ended with handling out prices to people who's been doing something great this summer. As we've only been working for a week and a half we didn't get any award. :(
We spent the rest of the days doing mostly midstays, which means that the guests are still here and we only need to change towels and make the beds.
This evening Courtney and Lisa are cooking us dinner, which we really think we deserve after a long day (9,5 hours of work). Though we have to do the dishes as they are tonights chefs. Hope they cook us something good and delicious!

Just got back from our pizza = niklas is feeling sick does to all the food he just consumed :P
Btw, we were partying last night, and somewhere along the way i lost my key, staff pass and key card :/
This seemed odd though as I, as far as Mat and I could remember, wanted to leave it all at home to minimize the risk of loosing them.
I did however replace them all, but that cost me $45, unnecessary cost, yes.
It wasnt until now that i could ask steffen to just check his pants, and apparently he had taken my keys for safekeeping :) So now im back on track, no harm done!
Work tomorrow, got to hit the bed soon. watching "Claim" and longing for the winter!

Been having a quiet day today, just waiting for work tomorrow :P
4 days have passed by so fast, even though we have had lots of fun its nice to go back to work and earn some money.
We were at the EE today and asked about housing and work during the winter, they asked us to come back tomorrow after the morning meeting and we would discuss it then. Apparently it is possible to switch position to a job that allows more skiing and snowboarding - which would be awesome!
Havnt bought my board yet, but im waiting for the boss of the shop to come here, as i need size 12 boots, and they only have them in Banff, but he is suppose to come in tomorrow.
Tonight we will have pizza with steffen and then watch a movie, the girls are away tanning at some beach near invermere.

Staff sale at Canski!
We got up early to be there when the doors opened, turned out to be no rush, just me, matt, james and his girl.
Matt is going to buy a pair of goggles for winter, I have to buy basicly everything, board, bindings, boots and goggles...
We went back home without buying anything as Matt was interested in the goggles that they were gonna put up around 12.

Just finished eating pizza:P
Today has been quite a busy day, but fun. Me, matt and lisa went up the mountain, we took the first chairlift and then made our way towards the top.
As matt has a cold atm he kinda figured he wouldnt make it and turned back after a while.
Me and Lisa continued our way to the top, even though we got tired and ended up just before the second chairlift ended.
Even though we didnt get all the way to the top I have to admit that I can see why people like it here, the view is absolutely stunning! When you get up on a mountain you really get to see everything out of a new perspective.
I will show you what I mean when I can steal the pictures from Lisa's camera, didnt want to ruin the view with my shitty one :)
We even have time just to relax and lay in the grass up there for a moment, which was great as well, the peacefulness here is so overwhelming sometimes. Anyway we were interupted by some sound and decided to walk back down, so we wouldnt miss the last chairlift down.
We took some random photos on the way down as well :)
At the bottom we continued our photoshoot with jumping in the kidsarea and walking by the volleyball court, which has white snice sand!
Then we had lunch at t-bar and met up with steffen and tobias, steffen lisa and I went to play mini golf, which someone blond won...
Back at staff accom lisa decided that we were going swimming, so we did. I came up with the perfect job opportunity, fountain. Basicly i found this hollow toy that i could stick into the hot tub's water system so that it was sprinkling water allover the place :)
After that it was time for pizza and now I'm wondering whats happening downstair, cya lads!

Injury
Don't worry, it's not one of us. It's our friend Mike. The day started with going to the pools with Tobias. We sat in the hot tubs, in the sauna and we tryed the water slides. It was fun!
We felt hungy so we grabbed some food at the T-bar and played some pool. At 4 PM Tobias had to work so we went by the CanSki to say hi to Steffen. We discussed everything from snowboards, boots and bindings to goggles and how great yesterday was. It ended up with Steffen taking a break from the store and we went to grab a Slushee.
This is where we found out, Nathan comes running and tells us that Mike broke his collarbone while biking, we ran with him to Bike Patrol to see how he's feeling.
There he was, in a "hospital bed". As he had no insurance Nathan where gonna drive him down to the hospital instead of letting him ride with an ambulance which costs 500 dollars. Mathias went with Nathan and Mike to the hospital in town and Nick went to the pools again to meet Lisa.
Mathias, Nathan and Mike drove as fast and gentle down the mountain as possible. At the hospital Mike had some papers to fill in before he could see a doctor. When he got attended to Mathias and Nathan sat down in the waiting room. It took awhile but he got a support brace, looked like a backpack without the bag. He was in a lot of pain :(
We stopped by the store on the way home to get some groceries. We were making burgers that night!
Nathan was the head chef and he did the best burgers ever! They were big and delicious!
By the time we were cooking burgers Nick and Lisa got home. They stayed and made us company while Mathias, Nathan, Steffen, Mike and Mike ate burgers.
After the burgers Nathan and Steffen went to Pano to crash the gay-weddings open party which started at 9 PM. Everyone else went to bed, the clock were around 10-11.
Today (Sunday) Nick and Lisa will go mountain climbing while Mathias stays home to try and cure his cold.

The 'work-morning' was the hardest one, shining sun, no clouds and we had to work inside all day.
Today is better, even though we slept more than before, we feel worse and we suffer from tiredness.
Waking up in the morning after two nights of good partying is not that fun.
The only thing that keeps us going today is knowing that we have four days off to do whatever we want.
We will soon hit the pools as the sun is shining brighlty today as well.
We were at the Housekeeping Staff Party yesterday to start off with, we ate pizza and got two free beers. It was fun, nice people and great weather. We even got an award to share, the "New BEE" award. At 8:30 PM we left the Staff Party along with Nathan. We bought beer from the G-spot (General Store) on the way back to Staff Accom. Once we got back to Staff Accom we started playing Flip-cup. It involves shugging beer and flipping a cup. We've never played it before but it took us just 10 seconds of training to become pro's.
We even did a pure Scandinavian team, we lost every game.
Shortly after we ran off to the Corona Beach Dance Party at Jackpine.
There we met up with Courtney, Lisa, Steffen, Johan and many many others. We played dart and pool. We drank beer and laughed.
The night ended at T-bar. Another great evening in Pana!

Time..
..What is time?
The last couple of days we've done nothing but work, eat, socializing and sleep. Well except for Nick, who has not been sleeping so much.
Today has been quite intense, we've been working for 10 hours and we were really looking forward going to a restaurant with all the guys here as was planned. It got called of due to lack of interest from everyone except for Courtney and Lisa whom are now demanding us to cook them dinner. I wonder what we'll cook, we are thinking of lasagna but we really don't know.
There's at least one good thing that happened today, we got our first 'perfect room'. Yay us!

hey guys, sorry for the late update, but we have been quite busy - working right ;)
well not rly but the ppl here are really intense so we dont get time to update our blogg really hehe.
Anyway its close to nine in the morning and we will soon be off to work, actually we are getting a ride with nathan, the canadian neighbour.
Its seans birthday today, his 19th, which means he just hit legal drinking age... So i guess you can kind of guess tonight topic, party :P Although I feel really tired atm and dont really feel like it.
Latest news is that I actually kinda have found a blanket, so i will survive the cold winter, I just havnt really gotten the permission to bring it to my room yet:P

Hey guys, well to get you updated, we have the day off :)
So last night was crasy!
Mathias was in the bathroom and Niklas was sleeping at 8, until that norwegian dude showed up again = party.
Mom, dont be scared, we are not alcoholics :)
Anyway, we started out in our unit until the Aussies downstairs thought that we should all try a 100beershots in as many minutes. To quote Stefan (the norwegian), "we are vikings, and we dont get wasted", well we actually did...
Mathias decided to give his beer to me and stefan as we were running low.
I had my first peebreak after 60ish shots and I realised that the alcohol was making me dizzy.
There was only 1 girl competing, and she was crasy, and well, lets just say she didnt feel 100% alright at shot 72:)
After completing the 100shots and as we vikings we are, we clearly stated that we won, as we drank our shots faster than anyone else it was time to hit the pub!
That was lot of fun, and Lisa and I went to the hot tubes for a bath after the pub :)
Monday:
We went into town today to buy the necessary stuff, like foood!
The first thing we bought was a wireless router :P that was actually the best thing we could ever do, we got internet in our unit now!!!! So there will be pictures!
Then we bought cellphones, they dont sell just the sim cards, so you need to buy a complete phone, sucks. We got kinda the same nr, 250-688-nick(6425) and 250-688-math(6284)!
After that we kinda woke up from our shoppingspree and decided to eat something.
Then we just went to the store in invermere and bought food and shampoo. They have WASA knäckebröd up here:P
We actually hitchhiked to invermere and back, my first time ever, but that is how ppl get around up here, there is actually only one road here:P
Now I kinda have to hit the shower, duty is calling, there is beachvolleyball at panorama and probably we will have a beer or two - coz we are not alcoholics!
Next day of is saturday :/

Saturday:
Last night, after our latest comment here, we just went up to our appartment to relax a bit and we figured that if we leave our door open someone will eventually enter and say hi. That someone was Steffan. Steffan is like the craziest Norwegian guy ever. Through him we got to meet many, many others living and working at Pano (=short for Panorama Mountain Village). We got just across the hall into an appartment belonging to Courtney, Elizabeth and some other guy and we started drinking some beer with Courtney, Lisa, Steffan, Elizabeth, Nathan and some other guys/gals. Great people!
At around 11-11:30 we left the staff accom' and went to a pub. Many more people to meet here I can tell you that. We got home around 3:45 AM and we where supposed to be at work at 9 AM. We got to work at 8:50.
Sunday:
This was our first day cleaning rooms for ourselves, it went very slow so if we keep working in that pace we'll only be getting paid like 8 dollars per hour. If we increase the pace we can earn as much as 25 dollars per hour. That would be great, but it will be very tough.
We signed out around 6 PM after getting some notes regarding our cleaning. Guess nobody is perfect from the beginning, but they did say that they were impressed with how well we've been doing and it feels good to hear that on the first day.
On the way home we stopped by the CanSki shop to see Steffan and to hear about the plans for to night. It turns out there will be more partying and we have tomorrow off so it'll be great.
Tomorrow we're gonna go down to Invermer which is the closest town from Pano to buy some groceris, ethernet cables and a blanket for Nick.
Sorry for not uploading any pictures, but we really can't do that on these medieval computers, but hopefully we'll have internet on our rooms for tomorrow.

This was our first day cleaning rooms for ourselves, it went very slow so if we keep working in that pace we'll only be getting paid like 8 dollars per hour. If we increase the pace we can earn as much as 25 dollars per hour. That would be great, but it will be very tough.
We signed out around 6 PM after getting some notes regarding our cleaning. Guess nobody is perfect from the beginning, but they did say that they were impressed with how well we've been doing and it feels good to hear that on the first day.
On the way home we stopped by the CanSki shop to see Steffan and to hear about the plans for to night. It turns out there will be more partying and we have tomorrow off so it'll be great.
Tomorrow we're gonna go down to Invermer which is the closest town from Pano to buy some groceris, ethernet cables and a blanket for Nick.
Sorry for not uploading any pictures, but we really can't do that on these medieval computers, but hopefully we'll have internet on our rooms for tomorrow.

AT PANORAMA RESORT!
Hey guys! Been a while since our last post, we apologise if anyone of you might have been missing us :P
The main issue has been the fact that we dont have a stable internet connection, yet.
We are currently sitting in our computer room at the resort.
To get you updated on our trip we have to rewind 2days, to the 13th, local time.
Our stay in Vancouver was over and it was time for us to move on!
It was quite a trip, as it is around 900km, and we did it on bus. As the Swedes we are we arrived at the station one hour prior to the departure even tho we already had bought the tickets in advance. We went on a greyhound bus, which is actually really great.
The total trip from Vancouver to Golden took us 11 hours, and an additional 40CAD, as we had alot of bags.
Once we arrived in Golden we had to switch bus to a local company, but we had the time to get some breakfast and enjoy the nice weather (rain).
After some time on the bus it got bright enough so that we could actually see stuff outside the bus.
What a sight IT WAS! Can you imagine having these great mountains on both sides of the bus? I know there are mountains in northern Sweden, but these had a whole different feeling, these just kept on going for ever!
At 9 oclock in the morning the 14th we arrived in Invermere, the city closest to our resort. There was already a taxi waiting for us, and the driver was really great.
He drove us to the Central Check In, where we could get our keys, and we were off to our staff accommodation.
Our first encounter with the people in the house next to our was "Hey! Neeewbiies!" and this cute blonde girl walked up to us and greeted us, unfortunately we havnt seen much of them since, as its the house next to ours and the weather has been shit.
The accommodation is quite alright, you can see it has been used alot, but what else can you expect? Oh, Mathias and I are alone in our unit, kind of sad as we wanted to meet people, but its fine as we get time to settle in.
It is not like there is noone to meet:P
Today, the 15th, was our first day of work. The housekeeping department was located underneath the Administration. At first it looked kinda crappy, but the people and the feeling turned out to be great, we only got to really talk to 3 or 4 guys at the department today, but it looks like we are gonna have alot of fun here!

We got a free soda machine!
Things that we find have to be kept at the department for some time, then "finders, keepers"!
Greed IS good! Food that we find once ppl have checked out belongs to us! MUHAHAHA!
Some people actually make 20CAD/hour and more!
Anyway, the plan is to get the connection going asap + get down to Invermere asap (monday prolly as we have monday off), we would have to buy a cpl of things, for instance Niklas is lacking a blanket (the thick thing in bed that keeps you warm at night) and we need SHAMPOOO!
OH! our working hours are 9-1930, so 10hour a day, but we only work 4 days a week! that means 3 days to go snowboarding in the winter! AWESOME!

Spännande dag!
Efter mycket problem med sovandet blev klockan äntligen 08.00 och frukostdags. Efter en snabb frukost började vi traska mot Internex, vår agentur. Ca ett kvarter från Internex började Niklas klaga på att han inte sett någon polisbil, vilket resulterade i en polisbil i näst hörn. Det var inte slut där, när vi är på väg bort från polisbilen hör vi löpande steg bakom oss och när vi vänder oss om ser vi en löpande uteliggare med en polis hack i häl. Vi fick se en polisjakt!
Vi stiger åt sidan, låter de båda springa förbi och polisen lyckas få tag på uteliggaren, som troligen stulit något, i nästa gathörn varpå tre polisbilar snabbt var på plats och en polismotorcykel paserade förbi. Vi lyckades trots uppståndelsen ta oss in på Internexs kontor.
Väl där inne blev vi mottagna av våra "supervisors". Vi fick ett snabbt informationsmöte varpå vi gick ut på stan med Mike och Lisa från Internex för att fixa Social Insurance Number och bankkonton.
När vi hade våra Social Insurance Numbers var det dags för mat, Mike och Lisa ledde in oss på något som liknade "Kungshallarna" i Stockholm. Vi handlade någon forum utav strimlad kyckling med ris, pommes och sallad, det smakade bra!
Nästa stopp blev Bank of Montreol där vi skaffade bankkonton. Lönen ska ju in någonstans.
Vi gick sedan tillbaka till Internex och fick lite mer information om läget på hotellet där vi ska jobba. Där blev vi instruerade att ta oss till busstationen med SkyTrain och köpa biljetter till den 15 timmar långa bussresa vi har framför oss. Denna bussresa tar oss från Vancouver till Invermere, därefter får vi ta taxi från Invermere till Panorama Mountain Village Resort.
När vi irrade omkring på stationen och undrade hur det hela fungerade med biljetter och så vidare började en okänd man prata med oss. Han var hur trevlig och hjälpsam som helst, han hjälpte oss att köpa biljetter och instruerade hur vi skulle gå för att ta oss till tågen och allt. Medans vi fick hjälp av den okända mannen kom ytterligare en okänd man och gav Mathias ett "day-pass" som han inte behövde något mer. Kanadensare måste vara världens trevligaste människor!
Just nu sitter vi på vårat Hostel och det börjar närma sig kvällsmat!

Klockan är nu nio på kvällen, lokal tid, och vi har precis ätit.
Kan ju medela att vi haft en jobbig, men spännande dag, full av förväntan.
På planet mellan heathrow o kanada så hade vi varsin tv + välja inviduellt vad man ville se. Niklas var dock inte nöjd med sitt val av Transsiberia å Dragonball hehe, men Mathias körde på klassiker och var helnöjd.
Väl framme så trippade vi in vid imigration center, lätt som en plätt, kom ut lika fort, men hade då med oss en Anna, som också anlänt via WorkTravel.
Sen spenderades åtskilliga timmar på den där s*tans bussen!
Väl framme drog magen i oss och vi begav oss ut. En fet hamburgare och en härligt kall öl senare är man bra nöjd med dagen!
Känner att det är dags att sova o se vad morgondagen har att erbjuda!

Sen så var Mathias så nöjd med att fått in sin snowboard gratis, så vi var på väg att glömma våra boarding passes.
